San Pietro di Feletto stands in the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2019, among rows of vineyards that shape the Treviso hill landscape. The municipality's most important monument is the Pieve di San Pietro, a building of early medieval origin, traditionally erected around the year 1000 in Romanesque forms, which was a religious reference point for the area as early as the 7th-8th century, when baptisms were administered there thanks to its ancient font, a privilege held by no other church in the surrounding area. Inside and on the external portico, the Pieve preserves a cycle of frescoes painted between the 13th and 15th centuries, including the celebrated Cristo della Domenica, a rare iconography depicting Christ surrounded by tools of labour, as a warning against working on the day of rest. The isolated Romanesque bell tower recalls in its form that of the basilica of Aquileia, and the site remains one of the most significant places of artistic and spiritual interest in the Treviso hills.

The story

The story of San Pietro Di Feletto

In the heart of the Prosecco Hills

The municipal territory forms part of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019 for their historic vineyard landscape. Rows of vines cover the hillsides, alternating with woods and small rural hamlets.

The thousand-year-old Pieve

The Pieve di San Pietro, built in the Romanesque period, traditionally around the year 1000, was the area's religious reference point as early as the 7th-8th century: it was in fact the only church holding the privilege of a baptismal font, a gathering place for the community for baptisms and religious functions.

The Cristo della Domenica

Among the Pieve's frescoes, the Cristo della Domenica stands out, a rare iconography that is particularly well preserved here: Christ is depicted bleeding, wounded by the work tools surrounding him, symbolising the commandment not to work on the day dedicated to God.

A fresco cycle spanning centuries

The walls of the central nave are entirely frescoed with works by various artists, painted between the 13th and 15th centuries, with Byzantine influences still recognisable. The isolated Romanesque bell tower echoes in its form that of the basilica of Aquileia.

Vineyards and wine among the hills

The municipal territory is an integral part of the Prosecco Superiore production area, with farms and wineries overlooking the hillside roads, offering the chance to combine a visit to the Pieve with the experience of the wine-growing landscape.
