Two hamlets, one municipality
The municipality of Fara Vicentino was formed by the union of two distinct centres, Fara and San Giorgio di Perlena, spread across a hilly territory that never had a true monumental old town. This polycentric structure is typical of many municipalities in the Vicenza foothills, where settlement developed as small farming clusters scattered among the hills rather than around a square or a castle. The name itself, according to the most accepted hypotheses, points to a Lombard origin linked to the early medieval military settlements widespread throughout the area.
