In the heart of the Prosecco Hills
The municipal territory forms part of the Conegliano and Valdobbiadene Prosecco Hills, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019 for their historic vineyard landscape. Rows of vines cover the hillsides, alternating with woods and small rural hamlets.
The thousand-year-old Pieve
The Pieve di San Pietro, built in the Romanesque period, traditionally around the year 1000, was the area's religious reference point as early as the 7th-8th century: it was in fact the only church holding the privilege of a baptismal font, a gathering place for the community for baptisms and religious functions.
The Cristo della Domenica
Among the Pieve's frescoes, the Cristo della Domenica stands out, a rare iconography that is particularly well preserved here: Christ is depicted bleeding, wounded by the work tools surrounding him, symbolising the commandment not to work on the day dedicated to God.
A fresco cycle spanning centuries
The walls of the central nave are entirely frescoed with works by various artists, painted between the 13th and 15th centuries, with Byzantine influences still recognisable. The isolated Romanesque bell tower echoes in its form that of the basilica of Aquileia.
Vineyards and wine among the hills
The municipal territory is an integral part of the Prosecco Superiore production area, with farms and wineries overlooking the hillside roads, offering the chance to combine a visit to the Pieve with the experience of the wine-growing landscape.
